“Strength and hope for families and friends of alcoholics”: with this motto, from September 12 to 14, 2025, the XXV National Meeting of Al-Anon Family Groups and Alateen will come to life at the Palacongressi (via della Fiera 23).
An appointment that is not just a congress, but a moment of deep sharing, where hundreds of people come together to support each other, exchange experiences, and find motivation.

As the director of Hotel Ausonia, I have had the privilege of hosting some participants of these meetings in past years multiple times. Each time, I received something that goes beyond the simple relationship between hotelier and guest: a lesson in life.

I remember a lady from Milan who, during breakfast, quietly told me how difficult it had been to raise her children alongside an alcoholic husband. In her eyes, however, there was not just fatigue: there was the pride of someone who, thanks to the Al-Anon group, had regained serenity and the courage to no longer feel alone.
That day I understood that these meetings are much more than a gathering: they are a network of outstretched hands, capable of restoring dignity and hope.

Another episode that I hold dear involves a boy who attended Alateen meetings. It was his first experience in Rimini, and he confessed to me that at first, he was ashamed to even talk about it with his classmates. After a few hours spent with other young people in the same situation, he said to me: “Here I found my parallel family”. That phrase moved me: sometimes, the true sense of belonging arises precisely where we least expect it.
